FINTO

Financial sustainability for the mission, with governance that is enforced, not just written

FINTO classifies the association's funds, identifies the investable surplus, and routes every opportunity through documented approval gates to the portfolio and the report. AI analyses, recommends and shows its sources; the decision always rests with the board.

Governance you can trustPolicy limits, conflicts of interest and separation of duties are enforced before any approval, and every decision is recorded.

The problem

Funds sit idle and decisions leave no trace

Many associations hold a surplus that could fund their mission for years, yet it stays in a current account because the path from surplus to a governed investment is unclear, and no one wants to carry a decision without a record.

Unclassified surplus

Waqf, restricted and general donations and operating surplus sit in one account, so no one knows what may be invested and what may not.

Decisions without a trail

Committees meet over email, minutes are written after the meeting, and conflicts of interest surface late.

Reports compiled by hand

The board, the auditor, the supervising authority and donors each ask for different figures, and no figure has a source to trace back to.

The four layers

A stable governance framework, digitised layer by layer

FINTO does not invent a new framework; it builds the established framework for charitable investment into software that enforces it.

Strategic factors

Before any investment: does regulation allow it? Does it fit the mission? How much can be invested without touching programmes?

  • The regulatory environment and the association's bylaws
  • The list of excluded sectors
  • Risk appetite and its limits
  • Fund classification and the investable surplus

Roles and responsibilities

Each role sees and approves only what it holds, and every action is attributed to its owner.

  • Board: policy and final approval
  • Investment committee: study and recommendation
  • Executive management: linking returns to the operating budget
  • The commercial arm, investors and the auditor

Governance and compliance rules

Rules checked automatically before approval, not clauses in a policy file.

  • Legal and financial separation from the owned company
  • Concentration and liquidity limits
  • Conflict-of-interest disclosures and matching
  • An immutable audit log and profit distribution

The investment cycle and its gates

From sourcing to the portfolio, with risk as a continuous layer, not a last step.

  • Opportunity sourcing
  • Due diligence
  • Structuring and negotiation
  • Portfolio and risk management

One deal through the gates

No opportunity advances a step without a recorded human decision

Follow one opportunity from surplus to report. At each gate there is a named decision-maker, a specific version of the file and a timestamp.

Guardrails

What policy forbids does not pass, and AI shows its basis

Governance is not a warning that can be skipped. Three cases from the demo that the system itself stops, and an AI draft that shows its inputs and sources before anyone decides.

Concentration limit exceeded

Approval blocked

The opportunity raises exposure to a single sector above the limit the board set in policy. The approve button is not shown at all, and the attempt is recorded in the audit log.

Conflict of interest

Recusal required

Automatic matching between related parties and members' disclosures, allowing for variations in how Arabic names are written. The member concerned does not vote and does not see the deliberation.

Separation of duties

Action refused

Whoever prepared the file does not approve it, and whoever approved the distribution does not execute it. The rule lives in the data layer, not the interface.

The network

A sector that learns from itself, and each board owns the disclosure decision

An optional module connecting participating associations without exposing any one's data unless its board decides.

Co-investment

Opportunities offered to other associations at the minimum disclosure level the board sets; the legal mechanism for pooling can be configured per opportunity.

Disclosure by board decision

Benchmarking

Anonymous sector-level indicators: classification ratios, gate times and quorum completion. No amounts and no returns.
